An opportunity has arisen for a highly organised, enthusiastic individual to join our growing team. Genus Plant Sourcing was founded in 2002 and supplies top quality hardy nursery stock in a huge range of varieties and sizes primarily for the garden design market. Based near Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, we pride ourselves in offering an individual, highly tailored service to our clients.

Job description

As Key Account Manager you will be responsible for the ongoing customer support for some of our designated key accounts and special projects, following the whole quoting and ordering process through, ensuring it runs smoothly and with the impeccable ‘face to face’ customer service Genus clients have come to expect.

You will be the first point of contact when key accounts submit their plant requirements, and through the ongoing development of strong relationships with our suppliers and growers, you will quickly be able to provide accurate and timely quotes.

You will enhance the business by ensuring the deliverance of a high quote to sale conversion rate and take remedial analytical steps as necessary to ensure quotes are consistently meeting expectations.

You will take the lead with your key account or special project enquiries, supporting the customer in managing the procurement process, answering queries, and managing expectations and timelines to ensure the order can be fulfilled on time and on budget. Your expert plant and landscaping knowledge will enable you to make suitable suggestions for alternative plants, where applicable.

You will have the ability to use your initiative and analyse sales trends for key accounts and liaise closely with the Operations Director to build an on-site catalogue of plants to enhance and improve the availability of the highly tailored, bespoke requirements of our key account customers.

Your role will be primarily office based, but there will be a requirement to visit customers and growers in the UK to further develop relationships. There will also be the opportunity to travel to our suppliers on the continent in the future, when current restrictions are lifted.

Skills required

The ideal candidate will have significant previous experience within a landscaping/horticultural role. The ability to interpret and visualise a client brief is essential, and the ability to show your knowledge of hardy nursery stock is highly advantageous.

You must have previous experience working with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and OneDrive.

Person Specifics

We are looking for individual who is able to build and maintain good relationships with clients and suppliers, and with a positive ‘can do’ attitude to every aspect of the role. You should be able to balance commercial decisions with promoting strong customer service.

You will need to have the ability to prioritise your own workload and manage various different tasks throughout the day and maintain a ‘birds eye view’ of all the stages of the process to ensure it runs smoothly, liaising with different departments as necessary. You must be customer service driven, with a keen eye for enhancing the customer experience at every opportunity.

You must come with a willingness to get involved in the day to day running of the business as a whole and be dedicated to the ongoing success of Genus.
