We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced arboriculturist to join our multi-disciplinary team, helping to manage the trees and woodlands across North Hampshire. Working closely with other arboriculturists, ecologists and landscape architects, you will have a central role in shaping the natural environment of a borough that is proud to do things differently.

Basingstoke is a dynamic and expanding town with an evolving urban forest, surrounded by beautiful Hampshire villages and the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We place great value on our large and diverse tree resource which includes ancient and veteran woodland and trees, making our borough a great place to live and work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is passionate about the natural environment to help deliver a forward thinking arboricultural service. You will be involved with the strategic management of a large urban and rural tree population, delivering the council-owned tree and woodland maintenance programme. Working closely with other tree officers, you will also assist with development and tree protection in the borough.

The Natural Environment Team is responsible for a wide range of projects within the natural environment which alongside the responsibilities of tree team include, ensuring green spaces are delivered successfully by developers, designing and implementing new open spaces and place areas, improving biodiversity and managing key parks within the borough.  The team also contributes to planning policy development and providing expert advice on planning applications.
