An experienced Gardener/Groundsman is wanted for a Private Estate in central Norfolk on a live in or out, permanent basis.
Experience of general garden maintenance, for example pruning, planting, weeding, application of herbicides, lawn care, pest control, use of mowers & strimmer’s and a general mechanical aptitude are all required. A chain saw ticket and spraying certificate (PA1 & PA6) would be desirable, but training to qualification can be given.
The applicant would be expected to accept some caretaker duties, such as maintenance of the swimming pool and biomass boiler, help with pets etc.
Good plant knowledge, or a desire to learn more, horticultural qualification RHS level 2, a foundation degree or proven equivalent experience, would be an advantage.
The applicant will work as part of a small team, together with the owners, but must be content to work on their own. The garden employs a p/t tree surgeon to help with pruning and hedge cutting as well as summer help with mowing. There will be occasional weekend work as required, mainly watering.
Above all, the applicant must be physically fit, hard-working, have a passion for gardening, able to work in all weathers and with ladders, and take a real pride in the appearance and standards of the garden.
