Head Gardener | West Sussex

We are working on a great opportunity for an experienced gardener to join a well know wine estate as they look for a Head Gardener to join their team. It will be your role to manage and maintain all gardens, ponds, and non-vineyard grounds on the estate to the highest standard.

About the Role

You will be working alongside other members of the gardening team to ensure that the grounds are kept in excellent condition to wow all guests and visitors. Your responsibilities will include, all day-to-day care and management of plants, trees, lawns and hedges, the upkeep of paths, and maintaining the vegetable plot, fruit cage and greenhouses. You will also be responsible for looking into ways in which to develop the gardens, producing various designs and layouts of garden landscapes for discussion and later implementation.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be working alongside two other assistant gardeners, so communication is key. Ideally, you will have an education in horticulture, and experience is essential. You will be confident in operating a small tractor and be confident in aspects of irrigation. This is the perfect role for experienced gardeners who have extensive knowledge of horticulture and are confident in growing a variety of plants.
