Located within GCC Neighbourhoods & Sustainability you will be responsible for and lead a dedicated team of staff within the Botanic Gardens and other GCC managed glasshouse structures. Leading the development and project-management of a range of initiatives within the Botanic Gardens as well as maintaining and expanding the Gardens as a centre of botanical excellence. Based at the Botanic Gardens you will lead in the day to day management of the facilities and manage staff including a curator and education officer. Particularly focusing on opportunities to work towards a greater level of involvement in environmental education for all ages. The successful candidate will be open to, expand and encourage community involvement and empower external groups to make a positive contribution towards the life of the Gardens and other GCC managed glasshouse structures. Previous relevant experience of botanical plant collections, project management, contracts, team management, partnership working both at strategic and local level and grant funding applications is essential as is a Degree, or equivalent, in botanic gardens management or related discipline. A current driving licence is also essential. Practical horticultural training or experience in a professional capacity is desirable as is being conversant with issues relating to health and safety in the work place including risk assessment and COSHH. The successful applicant will also occupy a three bedroom property within the grounds of Glasgow Botanic Gardens, including parking, at a competitive rent. This is an essential requirement of the post.
