Gardener Position

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic gardener to work in a walled kitchen garden within the landscaped gardens of a Shropshire Estate. The Gardens are opened to the public during the Spring and Summer months.

The successful applicant will be responsible for fruit vegetable and flower production for the house and Estate Restaurants, including the care of a plant collection under glass.

Reliability and self-motivation are important. The successful applicant will be required to enhance what already exists, increase productivity, and maintain the high standards of presentation for the enjoyment of visitors.

This is a great opportunity for someone recently qualified, or who has genuine practical experience. This is a long-term role with opportunity for personal development.

Applicants should possess relevant qualifications and experience. A PA1/PA6 spraying certificate, familiarity with garden machinery and full clean driving license are advantageous. The successful candidate will join an existing team and assist with seasonal tasks in the extensive pleasure gardens.

This is a live-in position; accommodation is a 4-bedroom house adjacent to the kitchen garden. Peppercorn rent charge; council tax paid by employer. Candidate to pay own utilities. Families and pets’ welcome.

This is a full-time role with extra hours required during the open season.

January 2021 start

£20,000 gpa + neg depending on experience

We are always keen to register staff with specific skills such as organic gardening, arboriculture, botanic collection, historic garden restoration, arboriculture, design and landscaping.

Our Gardening Consultants work closely with our clients and they have established close links with Kew, RHS Wisley, Chelsea Physic Garden and The Professional Gardeners Guild.

All roles are registered on a live in or live out basis. Increasingly, we are getting Live out jobs registered, where clients are not offering accommodation as part of the package, so if candidates are seeking live out work in their local areas, we may be able to help.
