Do you want to be part of something amazing, and join the UK’s leading horticultural charity? A place where we are driven by a sheer love of plants and the belief that gardeners make the world a better place, and where you will be working alongside some of the best horticulturists in the country.

RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey is the RHS’ flagship garden and one of the most popular in the country, attracting over one million visitors each year. A new chapter is unfolding for the garden, with a £65 million investment in science, horticulture and the visitor experience. We are looking to recruit 3 enthusiastic and passionate horticulturists and 1 label engraver to join our Curatorial Team.

The Edibles Team look after productive growing at Wisley, including fruit, vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, the collections of figs, rhubarb, grapes, soft fruits, the vineyard and the orchard, with a wide range of apple, pear and plum cultivars. Our produce is a great way of engaging with our visitors through talks, tasting events and shows, and the team work closely with our restaurant and retail teams, supplying fresh produce, wine, cider and juice.  We are also working on an exciting new World Food Garden, due for completion in 2021. This horticulturist role will have a primary focus on our orchard which will also see some exciting developments in the coming years, and to that end we are seeking a candidate with a keen interest in, and experience of growing, all types of top fruit, ideally with experience of working in an orchard.

The Formal Ornamental Team, which develops and maintains the iconic Jellicoe Canal and walled gardens, stunning Mixed Borders, the Bowes Lyon Rose Garden, Exotic Garden, Wisteria Walk and the Cottage Garden, amongst other delights. This particular role will have responsibility for the care, improvement and maintenance of Bowles Corner, The Thompson Walkway and Dry Beds, which would suit someone with a keen interest in plants, particularly the unusual and who relishes garden development.  We are looking for someone flexible and creative who is keen to try new things, with experience and knowledge of cultivating herbaceous perennials, biennials, annuals and shrubs.

The Welcome and Riverside Team covers our exciting new welcome landscape, which includes a colonnade of flowering cherries, contemporary plantings and the driveway and carpark landscape. It also covers the atmospheric and historic Pinetum, the Riverside Garden, the new Heather Landscape, home of the national collection for Erica, Calluna and Daboecia and an ornamental Grass Garden.
