Horticulture Tutor

NJC SO2 (£34,689 - £35,949 pro rata), 35 hours

Term Time Only (Actual salary - £30,510 - £31,619)

Are you an energetic and creative horticulture tutor? Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of young people with autism and complex needs? Looking to further your own professional development? If so, come and join our team!

We are expanding our horticulture team and seek an experienced, qualified and dynamic horticulture tutor who has the ability to support the future development of our excellent provision for children with autism, severe learning and language and communication difficulties.

Phoenix School is successful, ambitious and forward-thinking.  You will be joining an Outstanding School (Ofsted November 2018) with strong leadership and committed staff team.

Pupils at Phoenix School are aged between 3 and 19 and make very good progress with access to a broad, balanced and enriched curriculum. We are an award winning school and accredited through the National Autistic Society; praised for our creative approach to working with children with autism.

This is an exciting opportunity in a school providing for children and young people, where change and challenge are key to what we do. Demand for places is high and having already increased our accommodation to admit new referrals we are now progressing plans to open a second school to meet demand.

The successful candidate will be able:

  • To develop an exciting programme and support teaching and learning through horticulture and environmental opportunities using the outdoor classrooms, school grounds and the wider community.
  • To use natural materials with students and create functional items as part of school enterprise projects
  • To work with students to support work related learning through garden maintenance

You will have the opportunity to contribute in this exciting development working across the schools. If you feel you have the skills, experience and drive to take on this role and become a member of our school, we would very much like to hear from you.

If you would like to visit the school or discuss the post, please contact the Veronica Armson Associate Headteacher varmson@phoenix.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Application packs can be downloaded from the school website www.phoenix.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Completed applications to be returned to: recruitment@phoenix.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Closing Date: 9am, Monday 7th December 2020

Interviews: Tuesday 15th December 2020

Phoenix school is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of our children and young people and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
