Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens is an historic 240 acre Grade 1 listed property situated in Lower Beeding, West Sussex. The gardens refurbishment has been one of the largest garden restoration projects since the Gardens of Heligan. We are now recruiting for a Head Gardener to look after and manage the gardens of this magnificent property. The main responsibilities of this role are to map out a plan of action and a garden management plan of how to best manage the gardens in the immediate short-term, medium term and long term. You will need to have worked at Head Gardener level preferably within a large historic public gardens and have the necessary vision and drive to make this project an ongoing success. You will need to have excellent management skills as you will be responsible for developing a team of professional gardening staff, arborists, apprentices across a 7 day week period, as the gardens are open daily to the public, in addition to this you will need to be familiar with health and safety requirements and be able to carry out and put in place risk assessments.
Excellent communication skills are needed as you will be required to deal with a varied group of people ranging from the general public, staff to members of the press.
