THE COMPANY
Our client is an internationally recognised and award-winning horticultural brand. Are you motivated, enthusiastic, with a background in Horticulture/Agriculture and looking for a challenge?  Our client is an established rose growing business based in Albrighton – Wolverhampton and they are recruiting a Head of Production to be responsible for the planning, coordination and control of all growing, production and order fulfilment processes within the UK and USA. The role is focussed on people, product and process management, optimising both team and production performance to deliver the best plant quality possible.

THE ROLE
The Head of Production will be a  key part of the senior management team. This is a dynamic role that requires a comprehensive understanding of the following responsibilities; leadership, motivation and direction of all production staff, planning production and growing schedules, overseeing all production and growing processes, monitoring the output of the production team against targets, identifying and applying process improvements in line with modern manufacturing methodologies using lean systems, maintaining quality control standards and ensuring health and safety regulations are met. Other duties will include; staff recruitment, training and welfare, identifying training needs and provide opportunities for individual development, procurement and cost control, overseeing site infrastructure and facilities, organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment and sustainability improvements - peat free, plastic alternatives. The role is based at Head Office in Albrighton although the role will require potential travel to the USA throughout the year.
 
REQUIREMENTS
Keys skills required for the Head of Production include; a strong character with a proven ability to drive through cultural and process change, ideally educated to degree level with a firm understanding of business IT systems and procedures, experience of managing teams of people in a high volume/capacity environment, NEBOSH qualified or IOSH desirable, preferably Black Belt Lean qualified with a record of implementing continuous improvement projects, practical hands on experience at adding value to a business and team, excellent verbal and written communication skills and be highly self-motivated with a can-do attitude. A current valid full driving license is required.
