2018 'Employer of the Year' for horticulture!

Majestic Trees has positions open for both Skilled Nurserypersons and Tree Planters - Last season was our best year ever, resulting in outstanding profit sharing for the team, and we were heading for another record year before COVID put the brakes on! Thankfully, business has recovered, and whilst the 20% growth of last year is wishful thinking, we have done far better than we could have hoped for in April.

Together as a team, we have also expanded our growing grounds by 40% over the past 3 years, so we need to hire two team members, preferably with specimen tree pruning and production experience, or an interest or preferably experience in planting large trees.

As a team, we are an award-winning grower that has won the UK Nursery Stock Grower of the Year an unprecedented four times and was the 2018 'Employer of the Year' for horticulture!  Specialising in the both the growing, supply and planting of mature and character trees of exceptional quality, we are unique amongst growers in providing a complete in-house service, from selection advice to delivery, planting and aftercare, so that our customers can fully engage with the fulfilling experience of planting trees. We plant extensively for private and professional customers nationwide and are a preferred supplier to the RHS. Our visitor-friendly nursery is open to the public six days a week, where over 12,000 trees, in 80 to 4,000 litre AirPots set out over 27 acres can be viewed and personally selected.

The Roles

This opportunity is for fit, hardworking individuals to join either our nursery or our delivery and planting teams. For the nursery, container production experience is preferable but not essential, as are good pruning skills, irrigation knowledge but most importantly a keen understanding of how things grow. Any heavy machine experience or handling of large specimen trees is a plus but not necessary.

In the planting role, it naturally involves travel to our customers primarily in the south east, but also nationwide at times. You will also be expected to be able to plant trees manually & with the use of heavy machinery depending on the requirements of each job. An HGV/LGV license would be a real benefit, but we will train the right individual in both machinery and HGV at our expense.

The Person

For either positions, a 'can do - nothing is impossible' attitude whatever the challenge and in any weather is important. Furthermore, the ability to multi-task, work hard and to deadlines efficiently in a team is essential, and if you can grow and believe you have what it takes, we would like to talk to you.

Experience on a nursery or other horticultural experience, and specifically planting large trees would be an advantage, as is the ability to drive tractors, telehandlers, excavators and heavy machinery used in tree production and planting, though we can train those with natural ability on specific machines. Furthermore, well paid horticultural apprenticeship opportunities for both roles are also available; please ask for further details.

In the planting role, there will be some nights away with food and hotel accommodation provided. Many of our nursery, delivery and planting team have been together since soon after the nursery was formed 18 years ago.

For either posts, excellent pest and disease knowledge, with a PA1 & PA6 is useful.
