An excellent opportunity has arisen for three skilled Craft Gardeners to join the Parks and Open Spaces team which manages sites across Adur and Worthing.  This role would suit an academically qualified and well-rounded gardener with proven experience on horticulturally diverse gardens.

Depending on your level of experience, opportunities exist to provide skills and expertise to our mobile teams of maintenance gardeners to enable the delivery of horticultural excellence at our prestigious Green Flag parks and gardens. These will include Highdown Gardens, Buckingham Park, Marine Gardens, Lancing Manor and Field Place.

It is essential that you hold a Current Driving Licence, and hold a college diploma in horticulture or provide evidence of equivalent knowledge.

The successful candidate will be expected to work outdoors throughout the year; the role will require sustained physical activity, potentially on terrain such as the sloping topography at Highdown Gardens. You will have experience of maintaining herbaceous borders, woody shrubs, climbers and trees, and must have a keen eye for detail in spotting and controlling pests and diseases.

Interest in, and maintenance of wildflower areas is becoming increasingly important to the role as we evolve our planting schemes to be more sustainable and to adapt to the changing climate.

You will be expected to be skilled and experienced in the use of various powered machinery.

You will have a positive approach to working and take pride in the work that we do.

You will be able to demonstrate high standards of behaviour and professionalism in dealing with the public.

Does this sound like you?
