Gardener / Groundsperson

An excellent opportunity has arisen on a private estate close to Kettering, Northamptonshire, for an experienced gardener / groundsperson to manage and maintain a beautiful 10-acre garden.

The 10-acre private garden consists of paddocks, mature and young trees, topiary, fruit trees, mixed borders, rose garden and extensive lawns. Typical duties will include, but not be limited to general garden maintenance and management of all plantings, seasonal bulb planting, pruning of shrubs, plants and topiary, lawn mowing and border edging, hedge cutting, weeding, watering & irrigation and pest and disease control.

Additional responsibilities will include assisting with household / estate maintenance as well as maintenance of the drives, paths, drains and garden furniture. The successful candidate will be the estate keyholder, hold the knowledge of all household systems, contracts and maintenance visits, organising and controlling site visits (including swimming pool, oil heating, air conditioning, security etc.) as well as organising and liaising with relevant trades as necessary.

This role would suit a hands-on and driven gardener with a well-rounded skill set. The ideal candidate will be friendly, self-motivated and have a positive attitude. They will have previous experience working on an estate, maintaining the gardens and managing the grounds. He / She will have good organisational skills and time management, work to a high standard and be reliable and flexible in their approach.

Good physical fitness is essential as this is a hands-on, full-time permanent position. He / She must be experienced in the safe operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery and must hold a full UK driving licence.

SALARY:  £26,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
