Nursery Supervisor

Van den Berk Nurseries specialise in medium to very large sized trees, shrubs and rhododendrons. Our extensive assortment consists of 1600 species and the production currently stretches across about 450 hectares in the Netherlands and Germany. Shortly we will also open a small location at Mirfield, West Yorkshire, where we will grow trees in containers and airpots for our UK customers. For this new location we are looking for a:

Nursery Supervisor
(various number of hours)

As a supervisor you will be responsible for the conditions of the trees at the site by monitoring the plants and programming the irrigation system on a weekly base. During the planting season you will organise the unloading and placing of the trees coming from the Netherlands and  you will hire and manage temporary staff to assist you with this job. You will also be the contact person for customers and forwarders who want to collect trees that have been sold and you will prepare the plants for pick up. The arrangement of the necessary documents, such as consignment notes and CMR’s, also belongs to the job as well as maintaining the necessary contact with the DEFRA.

All this work has a strong seasonal character and you will work varying number of hours.  As a basis we offer 4 hours a week for monitoring and small works. During spring there will be about 4 weeks of full time work, because trees coming for our Dutch nursery need to be placed at the site in Mirfield during March, April and May. The number of working hours for preparing the trees that have to leave the site will depend on the requests of the customers. Orders can arrive all year and you will be in close contact with our sales person in the UK about the deliveries.
