The Historic and Botanic Garden Training Programme (HBGTP) offer an unrivalled opportunity for passionate and committed horticulturist to gain practical experience within an historic or botanic garden. As an HBGTP trainee you will earn a full time salary, and receive on-site training and mentoring. On completion of the HBGTP placement, you will leave with a broad portfolio of practical experience, as well as an HBGTP Certificate of Completion.

You will be working outside throughout a full growing season at a prestigious historic or botanic garden. As a trainee, you will be working alongside other passionate and committed individuals, immersing yourself in the heritage and beauty of one of Britain’s finest gardens. The placement will enable you to cultivate your passion and develop your hands-on skills in a beautiful and inspirational setting.

This year we have 19 trainee places available at a range of placement gardens across the UK, placements begin in September 2020, are full time, and last for 12 months.

Aberglasney Gardens, Audley End Gardens, Aldourie Castle, Bodnant Garden, Boughton House, Chatsworth House, Hatfield House, Holkham Hall, Ness Botanic Gardens, Newby Hall, Osborne, Walmer Castle and Gardens, Winterbourne Botanic Garden, Wrest Park and Gardens.
