Greenhouse Technician

We are looking to recruit a Greenhouse Technician to work at our beautiful Streatham Campus in Exeter. This full time permanent role is available immediately within our centre of internationally excellent research. You will be responsible for managing the Greenhouse, a major research facility in Biosciences .

The role

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills. You will also have experience of providing professional technical support to research staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students working in plant biology.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting plant growth and containment within the Greenhouse; which is used to grow material for both research and teaching purposes.
  • Plant husbandry, pest management, and the containment of phytopathogens and genetically modified material in line with DEFRA standards.

You will be working independently, using your initiative and problem solving skills. You will also need to work confidently and collaboratively with academic and technical staff across teaching and research laboraties, within Biosciences and across the University.

A full UK driving licence is essential to carry out the full duties of this role, which includes transporting plant materials by van.
