A new post has been created within the busy Neighbourhood Services team to lead and manage initiatives and projects relating to parks, opens spaces and woodland areas across the borough in line with the Councils strategic priorities including the Colchester Woodland Project by creating a lasting legacy to help reduce Colchester’s Carbon Footprint for future generations. 

Over the next five years 200,000 trees will be planted across the borough as part of the Better Colchester campaign. We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic team member who will be responsible to lead and manage a number of projects including the delivery of the Woodland project alongside the Councils Tree Officer and Specialist Team.

You can expect to be involved in all aspects of project management including planning, consulting, designing, implementing, inspecting and monitoring work in progress working with the Council’s external partners, contractors and local communities.

You should hold a HND or higher qualification in horticulture, arboriculture or other relevant land management discipline. 

This is a job that demands well developed organisational skills, as well as communication and initiative, and be competent in the use of ICT systems.
