About the role

We are looking for an experienced horticulturalist who shares our passion for parks and green spaces as places for people to use and enjoy. Your role will be to design, develop and implement planting / landscaping schemes for the districts’ award winning parks and gardens; together with responsibility for programming year round grounds maintenance works for cemeteries, sports pitches and other green spaces. 

Working in tandem with our existing Green Spaces Communities Officer and operational teams, and through engagement with community groups and other stakeholders, you will ensure the continuous enhancement and environmental sustainability of our green spaces, in line with our climate change and biodiversity objectives, for the benefit of East Devon residents and visitors.   

About you

With experience in a similar role and ideally a degree or equivalent experience in horticulture, you will be passionate about creating visually stunning and environmentally sustainable designs.  You will call on your existing experience in green spaces development, ability to produce plans and planting schemes, and your project management and co-ordination abilities to continue our award winning credentials.  You will also be adept at building effective relationships with operational staff and stakeholders and must be capable of developing tendering and contract documents for planting schemes.

As an experienced project manager, you’ll be confident in delivering multiple tasks simultaneously to a high-quality and to deadline. You must have a valid driving licence as travel to site throughout the district will be required in the successful delivery of this role.
