Would you like to use your passion and creativity to nurture one of the country's most prestigious gardens and inspire visitors from across the world? If so, join us in these two new posts as Garden Supervisor or Senior Gardener and help us deliver the National Lottery Heritage Fund supported 'Belsay Awakes' Project at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens.

Belsay Hall and Castle is a key property within the English Heritage portfolio and attracts around 70,000 visitors each year. It has an exceptional plants person's garden, with a range of surviving garden layouts dating back to the high 'Picturesque period' of the nineteenth century.

'Belsay Awakes' is a project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund which will restore the gardens, help accessibility on site, and create major opportunities for visitors and stakeholders at Belsay Hall and Castle. These roles are specifically tailored to this project and its specialist needs in 'people development' for trainees and volunteers.

Working with the Head Gardener, as Garden Supervisor you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the gardens, maintenance and development of all the ‘Belsay Awakes’ areas, the supervision of volunteers and contractors, maintenance of equipment, health and safety and risk assessments.

Or as Senior Gardener you will work with the Head Gardener and Garden Supervisor, and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the garden elements of the ‘Belsay Awakes project’. You will also be responsible for maintenance and development of all garden areas, helping to supervise trainees, volunteers and contractors, and for maintenance of equipment, health and safety and risk assessments.
