Head Gardener - 41366

Our prestigious London based Client is looking for a Head Gardener to join their Team.  Based in SW London the garden and Estate provides a relaxing and spacious retreat for its residents to enjoy.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for staff including rotas covering sickness and holiday cover
• Reporting to Management
• Responsible for external contractors whilst on site
• Creation and completion of annual plant design
• Mowing, edging and lawn care program
• Ground preparation for planting
• Seasonal planting including tubs and planters
• Pruning shrubs, climbers and small trees
• Fertilising, mulching and composting
• Pest Control  
• Glasshouse work
• Propagation (as appropriate)
• Fruit cultivation
• Terrace, path and drive maintenance
• Social and recreation area maintenance
• Basic tool and machinery maintenance
• Operate irrigation system including water feature maintenance
• Maintain wildlife habitats and bird feeding systems

Person specification

• Hort Qualified
• Be the lead figure in all welfare of staff and well-being of the gardens, and demonstrate experience of the ability to directly manage, inspire and motivate a team while managing their time and efficiency.
• Have good verbal communication skills, both written and verbal

• Be self-motivated, energetic and passionate
• Have good eye for detail and have a very high level of finish
