St George’s Hospital in Tooting is seeking a suitably experienced individual to fill the Head Gardener role. The Head Gardener is responsible for developing and maintaining the hospital grounds which are a deeply admired aspect of our site. Leading a small team, you will ensure that the grounds are clean and tidy, well planted and a welcoming sight to all visitors throughout the year. You will need to have an understanding of the special character of an NHS gardening service which offers therapeutic support to patients and visitors.

In addition you will have a more conventional management role in managing all aspects of staff welfare, discipline and attendance; as well as service improvements, budgets, ordering supplies, managing equipment, and rotas. Please read the job description for more information.

Applicants will need to have staff management experience

You will need to be fully physically fit.

You need to have a good understanding of and an ability to communicate in English

You will need a good basic knowledge of IT such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and the use of databases.
