An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gardener to join St Mungo’s “Putting Down Roots (PDR)” and use their passion for gardening as a tool to support recovery from homelessness and enable people to reach their full potential.

Putting Down Roots provides therapeutic gardening and vocational horticulture training to St Mungo’s clients. Through our work we aim to support recovery, raise aspiration and equip clients with skills to gain paid work in the horticulture field.

The postholder of this new position will work in the enterprise arm of PDR, delivering garden services contracts at various sites across London. You will lead, train and support a team of client trainees to then deliver these works alongside you – ensuring that their work placement with PDR enables them to gain skills for entering paid employment.

The sites where we provide garden services are a mixture of public parks and other public realm spaces, as well as Mungo’s residential accommodation. You will have the necessary level of gardening skills and knowledge to ensure that these spaces are maintained to a high standard. You will be passionate about creating and maintaining excellent green spaces, and have the ability to work autonomously, delivering practical garden works for the majority of your working hours.

If this exciting and interesting combination of gardening and providing support to St Mungo’s clients fits with your skills and experience – we’d love to hear from you.

We offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities in support of their personal and professional development.
