Learning and Engagement Gardener

The Holkham Estate extends over 25,000 acres and has 260 employees, rising to over 320 in the Summer. The land and property-based activities include residential and commercial lettings, property maintenance and development, farming, forestry, country sports, hotels, a holiday park and car parks. The businesses based around Holkham Hall include tourism, hospitality, catering, filming, outdoor events and concerts. 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Learning and Engagement Gardener.

• Based in the walled garden you will work alongside local schools with a programme of delivering hands on horticultural experience to school pupils within a range of age groups.
• You will work closely alongside the large group of walled garden volunteers directing their day to day activities.
• You will interact with visitors answering questions and sharing your passion for plants making their visit a memorable experience.
• This is very much a hands-on position and you will be involved in all aspects of garden maintenance and improvement including: propagation, soil cultivation, pruning and training, lawn care, viticulture, fruit and vegetables, weeding, watering and all other gardening tasks.

The post is 39 hours a week, usually Monday – Friday although some occasional weekend work may be required during busy visitor periods. Good horticultural knowledge is essential.

Hourly rate: Over 21 £9.06, 18-20 £6.42 and under 18 years £5.18
