Gardener / Propagator in the Cotswolds

We are looking for an experienced Gardener/Propagator for a large privately owned historic garden open to the public, details of which can be seen on the website, www.kiftsgate.co.uk . You would be joining a small team working with the ‘hands on’ owners.

The applicant must have good plant knowledge and nursery experience in all aspects of plant production. Unusual and high quality home grown plants are for sale on open days. During the summer months you would be in sole charge of the nursery, so working on your own initiative with good self-motivation is essential. The applicant should have good interpersonal skills as on occasions you will be required to assist at the visitor reception/plant sales.

PA1/PA6 spraying certificate and chain saw qualification CS30/31 are desirable. It would be useful to have experience of operation of garden machinery such as strimmers, rotavators, mowers and hedge trimmers.

The applicant must also be physically fit and able, as elements of heavy lifting and manual labour are included in this role. Through the winter months you will be joining the other gardener working on the steep banks and borders throughout the garden.
