(54387) A highly recommended role with an old client of Greycoat Lumleys.  Having previously placed staff overseas with them we are now looking for an experienced Couple to take on the roles of Head Gardener & Housekeeper to work along side a small existing team looking after a beautiful period property (7 bed and 6 bathrooms) in landscaped grounds in North Wales. 

The English owners visit frequently and there is one member of the family in permanent residence.  You will be working with the existing Housekeeper (15 years employment), 2 part-time Housekeepers, Handyman (20 years employment) and two part-time Assistant Gardeners.  You need to be experienced, happy to be part of a team and muck in.

Head Gardener to be hands on and manage the others and give direction.  Care of existing established garden as well as there being plenty of area for redevelopment.  30 acers in total including a stream, woodland, lawns, orchard, glass house, raised bed vegetable garden, boarders and cut flower garden.  There is also a very new excellent gardeners office and potting shed, various out buildings and an excellent range of garden machinery and equipment for use and the Head Gardener will also be responsible for making sure they are kept in good order.  There will also be seasonal projects around the property so it is important you are happy to muck in with property maintenance jobs when needed although other staff are employed to cover most of what is required.  You will also be required to communicate with the family office and family (must be PC literate) with regards to projects and any requirements and dealing with outside garden related contractors.  Excellent plant knowledge required and ideally an Horticultural background.

Housekeeper (partner with less experience considered – training given) to work full-time along side other Housekeeping team.  Hands on cleaning, laundry and ironing and some home cooking a bonus.  There is a pantry full of home made jams and chutneys so if you are a keen home cook there is plenty of produce to use.

Security of the property would be the responsibility of the couple as you would be the onsite staff (separate cottage accommodation see below).  The clients mother lives in part of the house full-time and while she is independent you need to be onsite for both the property and her personal security reasons.

The family have dogs, cats and chickens and you will be expected to help with the pet care / sitting while they are away.

Full-time role normally Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with some flexibility

Accommodation is offered separate to the main house but within the estate – 2 bed cottage with large kitchen / dining room, lounge, conservatory, utility room, master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite bathroom, family bathroom and second bedroom.  There is also a large garden, sheds and garage as part of the couples accommodation.  All bills paid by employer.  Furnished or unfurnished – older children considered.

£50,000gpa + dep on experience
