Gardener - 40976

My Client based in North London are looking for a skilled Gardener to join their Team.Working within this beautiful Grade 2 listed Estate.  You will be assisting the Head Gardener in maintaining the grounds to a very high standard.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Assisting the Head Gardener to ensure the gardens are developed and maintained to the highest standards.
• Developing a knowledge of all formal gardens and the specific practices required for each area.
• Pruning and maintaining shrubs, trees and herbacous plants.
• Soil cultivation and bed preparation.
• Planting a wide variety of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and bedding plants, as per the planting schedule and layouts given by the Head Gardener.
• Weeding of all areas.
• Applying mulches.
• Applying fertililisers where appropriate.
• Watering
• Lawn mowing and maintenance – strimming, edging, scarifying etc.
• Maintaining paths and roads, including leaf blowing and power washing.
• Maintaining water features and associated pumps and filtration systems.
• Maintaining garden structures including sheds, fences, walls and gates.
• Using and maintaining hand tools and basic garden machinery (leaf blowers, strimmers, lawnmowers) safely and effectively.
• Using ladders and platforms where appropriate.
• Using lifting equipment where appropriate.
• Ensuring all equipment and machinery is properly cared for and informing the Head Gardener of any problems.
• Checking and maintenance of irrigation system and informing Head Gardener of any issues.
• Upholding all health & safety regulations and ensure that other team members are compliant.
• Keeping all working areas in an orderly manner.
• Partake in out of hours garden maintenance duties if requested.
• Assisting at the Principal’s other properties if required.
