Sole Gardener - Live Out - EC7462

A permanent full-time Sole Gardener is required to maintain the garden and grounds on a beautiful family owned estate near Winchester. The 4-acre garden and grounds are maintained to a high standard and include several areas which the owners would like to develop further.  This role would suit a physically fit and knowledgeable gardener with demonstrable experience of working autonomously on private estates.

The impressive garden consists of herbaceous borders, a vegetable garden, large areas of lawns, mature shrubs, a wooded area and a river running though the garden, and a backdrop of mature trees. The garden is equipped with a range of equipment including a ride-on mower.

Applicants will need to have a relevant horticultural qualification, ideally at RHS Level 2 or above and proven experience as a Sole or Skilled Gardener, and of managing a large private garden from a hands-on perspective.  Applicants must have good all-round gardening skills as well as genuine enthusiasm for their profession, and ideas for further development and improvements in order to provide additional colour and interest to the garden. A willingness to be involved in general estate maintenance/DIY duties, assist with any maintenance of the water course and be involved in other ad-hoc estate tasks as required is also essential.  Chainsaw certificates, spray certificates (PA1/PA6) and a full UK driving licence/own transport would also be an advantage for this vacancy.

This is a Monday to Friday position, with specific hours being dependent upon the season.  No weekend duties will be required of the successful candidate.  Applicants will need to be CRB (DBS) checked prior to taking up employment.
