Our client is a vibrant modern business that trades through a number of different outlets from a traditional garden centre to commerce and affiliation with other businesses and institutions. They are currently seeing a superb Buyer who has their finger on the pulse of the hardy plant sector and is looking for an exciting challenge with this growing name in the industry.

Main purpose of the job:
To lead the management of hardy plant categories across the business including the garden centre and affiliate sites in terms of range offering, pricing, promotional activity and supplier management.

Key tasks:
To lead the Hardy Plant Buyer and Plant Procurement Manager to ensure that hardy plant ranges offered are compelling, appropriate, available and customer focused across all sites and at the garden centre.
Take responsibility leading the Hardy Plant team to buy core plant ranges managing the end-to-end processes from range reviews and plant selection, supplier negotiation and procurement through to annual range launch delivery.
To track all KPI in conjunction with Hardy Plant team and continually monitor KPI and evaluate sales and profit figures on a weekly/monthly basis to ensure budgets are being met. Support the team to propose action where necessary to ensure financial targets of the business are achieved.
Work closely with the e-commerce team to deliver catalogue plant content and promotions for the RHS. Ensure catalogue copy and images are correct. Lead the Hardy Plant team to work effectively cross-functionally with the e-commerce team to ensure ranges and new/promotional products are promoted well across the site and within weekly e mail campaigns.

Key experience, knowledge and skills:
Preferably of graduate calibre or equivalent however, this should not deter candidates who can demonstrate ability and a willingness to succeed.
Good knowledge of plant buying, ideally with minimum of 5 years' experience.
Ideally holds ND qualification in hardy nursery stock.
Team management experience
Good communication skills
Computer literate (Excel & Word)
Good planning and organisational skills.
Ability to work to time pressures in a fast moving and rapidly changing market.
Intermediate level financial awareness and ability to interpret data.
Good interpersonal skills - a team player
Driving licence
