Motivated gardener needed for newly built 2.5 acre ornamental garden around a private farmhouse set in 35 acres of estate near Chedworth, Gloucestershire.
The garden was designed in two phases by Tom Stuart-Smith and includes formal planting, prairie, lawns, hedges, orchard and woodlands. The second phase is due to be completed in September 2019 and we would ideally like there to be an overlap of the gardener with the landscape contractors who are currently working on site.
The candidate will have primary responsibility for the gardens with support from a resident groundskeeper. They will need to have good plant and horticultural knowledge and ideally have completed a horticultural training/qualification. They will need to be able to work independently and be a reliable person managing the day to day running of the estate with support from resident groundskeeper and housekeeper while the family is away in the week. There is the opportunity for the right candidate to manage estate-wide projects maintaining the fields, river banks and woodlands, and in developing a few smaller garden projects, including a proposed vegetable garden and productive glasshouse.
Accommodation not provided.
Good salary for right candidate.
5 days per week (40 hours per week).
If you are interested in the position, please send a CV and cover letter to: info@tomstuartsmith.co.uk please include in the email subject ‘Head Gardener – Coln St. Dennis'
Closing date: Friday 12th July 2019.
Successful applicants will be invited for an interview at the garden at the end of July.
Please note: unfortunately we may not be able to respond to all the applications, if you have not been contacted by the end of July please consider your application as unsuccessful.
