Head Gardener

Location: Myddleton House, Enfield

Salary: £28,922 to £33,294 pa

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced individual. The Head Gardener will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the gardens and implementing its continuing restoration and development.

Myddelton House Gardens is a Grade II registered historic landscape situated in Enfield, North London. The 8 acres of gardens were created by famous plantsman E. A. Bowles and are of national historic importance. The gardens contain a number of architectural elements, naturalistic and formal planting, including meadows, a walled kitchen garden and peach house, glasshouses, an alpine meadow, rock garden and the famous ‘Lunatic Asylum’.

The ideal candidate will be creative and innovative and have a sense of excitement for ongoing and future projects. You will have a broad knowledge and passion for plants and will be sensitive towards the historic and biodiverse elements of the garden and landscape. Staff and volunteer management experience would be of benefit.

The successful applicant must agree to an Enhanced Disclosure under the Criminal Records Bureau procedures. Employment will be offered to the successful applicant subject to a satisfactory Disclosure report
