Our client is an internationally recognised supplier of flower and vegetable seeds, young plants, bulbs, fruit bushes and other horticultural products to amateur gardeners. They are one of the most established and respected companies in the UK. They are experiencing a period of continued growth and now have a position within their trial grounds to help lead the expansion of the growing side of the business.

We are looking for a professional nursery grower who can head up a team on the production nursery where they grow a selection of perennials, shrubs, bedding and vegetable plants in varying different sizes. They operate a fast paced, hard-working department, growing quality plants for the home gardener. They are currently expanding on site so it's an exciting opportunity.

The successful candidate will be a skilled and professional Grower. You will be responsible for the propagation and production of young plants. You will be expected to propagate from seed, grow on young plants and to produce finished crops to set production schedules; plus maintain plants to an approved standard.
You will be working within a team and therefore must be able to manage time efficiently & effectively so that all jobs are completed within the given time frame.

The successful candidate will have proven extensive growing and plant knowledge and a formal horticultural qualification. It is essential that you are personable and a good communicator as you will be working closely with all levels of staff. Candidates will be well organised, self-motivated and have a flexible, can do attitude. Working knowledge of emails and spreadsheets will also be required.

Hours will be approx 37.5 per week, to be worked flexibly over five of seven days.
Invariably you will be working more hours during the "growing" months but these will be balanced with lieu days in the "quieter" months.
There is a rota for weekend working which is shared with other members of the team. It is essential that candidates hold a driving licence.

Key parts of the role:
Management of staff
Following of production schedules / dates
All areas of production from sowing to potting, watering.
General husbandry
