Key Responsibilities

The post-holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities in accordance with college policies, actively supporting the mission of Capel Manor College as outlined in the strategic plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the teaching programme of the College in liaison with College staff.
  2. Maintain, contribute and deliver a quality service
  3. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the College's health and safety policies and procedures.
  4. Operate within the College's Equality framework to achieve targets.

General

Delivering and assessing (to the appropriate examination body standards across Levels 1 to 3 a range of subjects related to Horticulture, including but not limited to Amenity Horticulture, Plant Science, Propagation, Soil Science, Machinery, Landscaping and Ecology.  

A large majority of your delivery may be to our full time 16 to 18 year old students at Level 1 – Level 3 and adults on par- time Level 1 and Level 2 courses; changes to your delivery may also be required in relation to School Curriculum Plan.

Responsibility for learner progress monitoring & tracking, Individual Learning Plans and holding regular tutorials.

Providing specialist advice and guidance relating to horticulture activities and developments.

Supporting curriculum planning, development and support within the School.

Researching and producing course materials to meet the needs of all learners.

Developing materials for the college VLE (Moodle @Capel) which are interactive and engaging for all learners and that also enable us to be more efficient in the delivery.

Liaising with horticulture practical instructors, technicians and internal staff with regard to the provision of practical learner activities.

Ensuring that all requirements and regulations relating to health and safety are adhered to at all times.  Responsible for ensuring that the health and safety of learner is maintained whilst undertaking practical sessions.

Any other duties of a similar nature as required by college managers
