An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gardener / Grounds Maintenance Person to join our Bristol based maintenance team. Rydon is a successful construction, development, maintenance, investment and management group operating throughout England, predominantly in London and the southern counties. We are a dynamic, multi talented organisation, working across a wide range of construction market sectors within the built environment.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will take responsibility for garden design and maintenance for our South West NHS contract ensuring the upkeep and presentation of the outdoor spaces of these hospital/healthcare sites. The main focus will be on ensuring that the grounds/gardens look presentable at all times for both staff and patients. Sites include the prestigious Blackberry Hill Hospital in Bristol, Callington Road Hospital, Hanham Hall residential development and three sites in Weston-super-mare. The role therefore presents an interesting and diverse challenge.

Outdoor spaces include lawned areas, large flower beds, hedges, shrubs, a range of trees and raised beds with regularly changing flower displays. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the already high standards within the outdoor spaces, ensuring that the grounds/gardens look presentable at all times for staff and visitors. The role involves planning seasonal beddings to ensure we have 'blooms' throughout the seasons, whilst maintaining the general upkeep of gardens through mowing, strimming, spraying of weeds, hedge trimming etc. Rydon is proud of the appearance of its outdoor spaces, this is a rare opportunity to design and manage these spaces. We will supply all necessary tools.

Experience Required:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience gained as a gardener and be passionate about creating and maintaining exceptionally beautiful outdoor spaces. This experience will have ideally been gained working in a commercial and/or public garden. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of the main tasks such as mowing, strimming, weed spraying/treatment, landscaping. In addition, you will have good interpersonal skills as you will have regular interaction with a number of team members. It is desirable that the successful candidate holds a level 3 in horticulture (City and Guilds) or equivalent.
