About the Role

Barking and Dagenham is home to award winning parks and open spaces with several Green Flags and a commitment to secure more. We have an intensive development programme for new infrastructure projects in our parks and have invested in mobile technology to ultimately enable our community to have access to real time mapping and information as to when schedules are to be completed.

The new Parks and Environment service was created in 2018 to capture all areas associated with greens spaces management.  This post will from part of the Parks and Environment Management Team responsible for managing and maintaining Parks, Schools, Green spaces, Highways verges, Amenity areas, Play facilities, Rural Countryside sites, Arboriculture, Cemetery Services and includes overall management for assets within the Parks. All of these areas are key contributors to the wider social regeneration of the Borough.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed individual to become part of this small but highly skilled green spaces management team to support in the delivery of the parks and grounds maintenance service.  You must be trained & qualified and hold Horticultural Qualifications to Level 3.

You will have knowledge, operational grounds maintenance skillsets and experience of working in a green space’s supervisor or management role as you will be responsible for management, development and deployment of the operational Parks and Ground Maintenance Services delivered boroughwide ensuring that the borough continues to benefit from excellent and improving standards.

You will have experience and be able to promote excellence within your teams with customer satisfaction at the upmost forefront for key measurements of performance. This will include experience of dealing and responding to enquiries and complaints from Members and Partners.

You will need an ethos where you need to make a difference in whatever you do, have a proven track record of commitment and achievement, but most importantly be a team player. We are a team in Public Realm, and whether challenges exist around Cleansing, Fly-Tipping, Cemeteries or Grounds maintenance in other areas, you should always be ready to help and support.
