Estate Gardener

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Reay Forest Estate as a Gardener.
You will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of all garden areas around the lodges, common areas and holiday cottages as well as responsibility for the glass house and care for house plants and supplying flower arrangements for the lodges where required.
Further tasks will include mowing, strimming, pruning and caring for herbaceous borders. The ideal candidate will be willing to undertake general maintenance where required and provide weekend watering duties where necessary as well as being flexible and willing to commit to the necessary hours during the busy seasonal periods ensuring the high standards are delivered.
The position requires a confident and credible candidate, who is comfortable working and living in a small and remote community. A team player, personal qualities must include a hands on approach to problem solving and a strong attention to detail.
Applicants will possess good practical skills and experience in all aspects of gardening, ideally with an NVQ level 2 in Horticulture and/or RHS general certificate. Candidates should also hold necessary certificates in the use of brush cutters, ride on mowers, PA1/PA6 sprayers and general gardening equipment although training will be provided. A full, valid driving license is required. Opportunities for seasonal work for candidates’ partners may be available.
