Are you a self-motivated individual who can work under pressure and meet deadlines? Do you have great horti knowledge & experience in Buying/ Procurement/ Purchasing?

Our client, a leading supplier to the landscaping industry, is looking for a Horticultural Purchasing Manager to join their business. The primary aim of the role will be to develop and communicate a robust procurement and purchasing strategy which identifies strategic suppliers and delivers sustainable competitive advantage to the business.

You will:
Build and maintain good relationships with existing and new suppliers.
Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the price and quality of service provided.
Maintain the approved supplier register and supplier service level agreements.
Manage supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity and reliability.
Lead formal supplier capability assessment and performance management using robust KPI measures.
Ensure the procurement function and the Procurement team work from a continuous improvement mind set engaging with other functions within the Supply Chain to deliver measurable savings that are beneficial to the company.
Lead and develop the Purchasing team, providing 'Smart' objectives, regular performance review, and one to one updates.
Support with purchasing, the negotiation and tendering process in other business areas such as In-Direct contracts, Transport and Logistics, office equipment and consumables on an ad hoc basis.
Ensure the quality and specification of all items purchased meet or exceed that agreed with the Suppliers.
Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases.
Continually review the purchase order process for correct authorisation and compliance with company policy and procedures.
Manage inventory levels within company guidelines mitigating stock exposure to ensure optimum customer service, whilst ensuring stock availability with minimum wastage and maximum efficiency through the supply chain.
Forecast market trends and identify changes which could affect margins, reporting movements to the business in a timely manner.
To ensure procedures are in place to ensure all purchase orders arrive on site at the time required to support the Logistics and Customer requirements at least cost.
Ensure that the supplier quality log is regularly reviewed with the Purchasing team and suppliers thus resolving any problems and discrepancies are kept to a minimum.
Attend regular Demand Review meetings to report on market changes, supply variances, and possible item category changes.
Ensure that price files are kept up to date, and changes are actioned speedily and to procedure.
