We are seeking a qualified Arboricultural Surveyor to work within a team of highly motivated individuals based at our Pelsall Road Depot, Brownhills. The successful candidate will undertake the strategic management and maintenance of Walsall’s tree stock. Main activities include:
- Day to day supervision of tree teams including the management of the cyclical programme including risk management, taking decisions and prioritisation of works.
- Management of all arboriculture operations across the borough including the management of front line environmental teams operating on tree maintenance (re-active and planned maintenance)
- Facilitating and leading in special one off project based works including tree planting projects, tree warden training and facilitation, tree inventory compilation, and supporting the clean and green agenda.
- Manage and maintain the tree risk management programme for the council’s tree stock. Working in conjunction with Corporate Risk & Insurance and dealing with insurance claims.
- Work in accordance with and contribute to the Urban Forest Strategy, Green Space Strategy, relevant arboriculture standards and legislative requirements.
- Preparation of quotations, estimates, tenders and grant fund applications to ensure value for money and delivery of best value.
- Ensuring urgent tree works are managed, communicated and recorded in an efficient and safe manner.
- To be responsive to urgent requests and emergency situations such as storm damage, road closures, in conjunction with wider council services, emergency services and emergency planning team.
Interested candidates should possess:
- Arboriculture – Minimum Level 3 Tree Inspection Certificate or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- Post holder must attain/have IOSH accreditation (Institute of Safety and Health) qualification or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Attain/have - Street Works (signing, lighting, guarding) supervisory qualification
