Job Description

They have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced individual to join the dedicated Parks and Green Space team based in Pershore. You will support with the management of parks, including 5 which hold Green Flag Awards, as well as managing standard public open spaces and verges.

Working with the Client Services Team, you will assist the Senior Parks and Greenspace Officer with the day to day monitoring and organisation of the work on open spaces, verges and parks including dealing with contractors, forward planning, refurbishment projects, events in parks, play areas, tree and shrub management, GIS mapping systems, budget control and all other aspects of open space management.

There will be the occasional need to assist with enforcement issues such as abandoned cars, fly tipping and PSPO’s.

Key Skills

The successful candidate will need a relevant qualification in Horticulture or substantial experience in Horticulture (or a closely related subject). Previous experience in dealing with customers/public in a relevant field of Horticulture/Landscape would be beneficial plus lots of enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work.    

Key skills will include –

  • Horticultural knowledge especially for trees, shrubs and grassland management.
  • Monitoring contractors work.
  • IT skills including Word, Outlook, Excel and mapping systems. 
  • Communication skills. 
  • Time management. 
  • Customer service. 
  • Experience of working in a team and ability to work alone. 
  • Ability to calculate technical data. 

This post requires the ability to travel through the district to make site visits as well as working outdoors. There is also a requirement for making lone site visits to a variety of landscape sites.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle will therefore be essential. An essential car user allowance will be available.
