Job Details

Eltham Place is an outstanding property within the English Heritage portfolio and attracts over 100,000 visitors each year.  The gardens of Eltham are fine examples of their period and exemplify the work of the Courtauld family in the 'Arts and Crafts' style of the 1930's/1940's; they include a fine rock garden, rose garden, garden rooms and moat, with seasonal bedding displays and a magnificent herbaceous border.

We are seeking someone to take on the role of Head Gardener, responsible for upkeep and development of garden areas, both formal and informal, the supervision of staff and volunteers, of maintenance of equipment and health and safety and risk assessments.  We are looking for someone with a creative eye; high-quality garden management experience; excellent plant knowledge and horticultural skills; and a talent for leadership. You will know how to ensure visitors enjoy their day out - from sharing your gardening knowledge, to ensuring their health and safety. Project management, ICT and budgeting skills are also a must for this busy and dynamic role.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 3rd December 2018, with interviews expected to be held on Monday 17th December at Eltham Palace.
