An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gardener to join the established team at a very prestigious site in London.  This role is an excellent opportunity for a talented and passionate gardener to significantly enhance their standing in the industry and improve their existing skills in horticulture.

As part of a dedicated and talented team, you will share responsibility for the 42 acres of gardens, which include rose beds, herbaceous boarders, lakeside planting, extensive hedging and ornamental areas, lawns, and over 600 mature trees.  The Garden team comprise the Head Gardener, Senior Gardener and seven Skilled Gardeners, all of whom are part of a 26-strong estate team. 

Typical horticultural duties include bed preparation, planting, weeding, feeding and pruning across all garden areas of the grounds.  You will work under the direction of the Head and Senior Gardeners, and alongside the team as a whole in order to ensure the highest standard of horticultural practice for the benefit of all site members and guests.

The client is willing to consider applications from passionate gardeners from a commercial/maintenance background who may be looking to make a transition onto a static private site, and also from newly-qualified gardeners that can demonstrate their passion for gardening as well as a clear potential in the industry.

Candidates must be friendly, polite and diplomatic, with proven Horticultural ability and a genuine passion for their profession. Ideal applicants will have good plant identification skills, plant pest and disease management knowledge, experience with a range of gardening machinery and a PA1/6 certificate. You must be able to work well within a team, and confidently on your own when necessary.

Working hours as a Gardener consist of a 39-hour week (7am-4pm Monday to Thursday, and 7am-3pm Friday) with scheduled, but not guaranteed overtime on one in three weekends (only 4hrs each day over Saturday and Sunday) inclusive of bank holiday weekends, when scheduled.  References will be required for all applicants.
