About the role:

It's admiring your lawn before millions do the same

It’s taking every opportunity to make your mark. And it’s the pride in joining a team at the heart of a world famous institution. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

The Gardens and Grounds team care for and present gardens that are seen by thousands of visitors and guests every year.

Joining this small team of qualified gardeners, you'll help ensure the Royal Gardens and surrounding areas of Buckingham Palace and St. James’s Palace are maintained to an exceptional standard.

You’ll keep the lawns in top condition, from regular mowing and edging, to raking, re-seeding and top dressing.

You'll also maintain the shrub, herbaceous and rose borders, monitor the health of plants, and nurture the growth of young trees and shrubs.

Helping to shape the future of the gardens, you'll plant new shrubbery, bulbs and seasonal flower displays, ensuring that they continue to provide a worthy setting for a magnificent historic building, as well for high profile events.

You’ll aim for perfection and learn from expert colleagues, with the results of your work will be seen, and admired, by a world-wide audience.

About you:

A passion for horticulture is a must, and along with relevant experience and a good working knowledge of plants and turf care, you're exactly who we're looking for.

We’re a busy team, so self-discipline and time management skills are vital. Working closely with colleagues will be important to you, and you'll have the skills to communicate with a range of people.

With initiative and a confident approach, you'll also be keen to research and explore new ideas for developing the gardens and grounds.

And overall, in all that you do, you'll take great pride in your work and will be motivated to present gardens to exceptional standards.
