Salary: £24,202 to £32,463 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Locations: Working across all sites of Hadlow College

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated lecturer to teach elements of garden design such as Design principles, computer aided design (CAD) and other key areas of design to the HND and Degree programmes. As part of this you will be expected to be the Programme Leader for the programme – this includes overseeing the day to day running of the degree programmes. The successful candidate will also be available to support some of the practical horticulture, construction, CAD and garden design units of the Extended Diploma and RHS courses.

The majority of courses are held at the main Hadlow campus with occasional support required at one of the Outcentres (Mottingham and Canterbury). The successful candidate will need to be educated to at least Level 6 and have a relevant working experience in the industry of two or more of the following areas: CAD, garden design, landscape gardening, horticulture, landscape construction, landscape architecture, landscape contracting or landscape management. As part of the Group’s commitment to Horticulture a significant amount of development and investment is planned to enhance our teaching provision including a new state of the art research and production million pound Venlo glasshouse, due for completion later this year. In addition to this, the group continues to develop its link between Broadview Gardens and the curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of these new developments at Hadlow College, the outstanding land based College.

In addition to the minimum requirements detailed above, candidates will also need a teaching qualification or the willingness to work towards one. Support is given to those who wish to train and as they work for the qualification, staff will receive a bonus of £600.00 in the third year and £750.00 in their fourth year, providing they have successfully gained their full teaching qualification at Hadlow College.

Applicants must show proof of a minimum Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English. Excellent communication, team work and IT skills are a must. Certificates in Assessing Vocational Achievement and A1/A2 (or D32 and D33) would also be advantageous.

As well as a contributory pension scheme, health cash plan and free car parking, this post also attracts seven weeks holiday each year (excluding bank holidays). Temporary accommodation may be available to anybody looking to relocate to the area. A market allowance maybe also be considered for the right candidate

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check and provide proof of their right to work in the UK. Where appropriate a prohibition check will be carried out.
