HEAD GARDENER

A brilliant opportunity has arisen for an experienced and knowledgeable Head Gardener to join us at a private country estate at Overbury on the edge of the Cotswolds.  Applications are invited from Head or Senior Gardeners with demonstrable experience on a private estate and supervising a small team (Assistant role is currently also available).

Overbury Court gardens contains formal hedges and borders, kitchen garden, pools and waterfalls, orchard and wild meadow areas, with the wider estate including glasshouses, tenanted properties, farms and woodlands.  The Landscape and Grounds Department is well equipped with a wide range of top quality garden equipment and machinery, as are other departments you will interact with, therefore tickets to drive machinery such as a mini digger would be desirable.  The main house gardens are sometimes opened by the owner for charity and other events where the gardens will be on show.

This position would suit someone with an excellent horticultural background and who is proficient at plant identification, with the ability to manage large gardens efficiently, holds spraying certificates, is conversant with COSHH, is computer literate and able to work with annual work schedules, planting records and general admin duties. You will be passionate about disseminating horticultural knowledge to under gardeners via ongoing training, alongside generating ideas to develop the gardens further by working with the family and a leading garden designer.

This full-time role is offered with a competitive salary (dependant on experience), 21 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), and a wonderful rural working environment.  A house would be available if required.
