An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and multi-talented Estate Worker and Paddock Maintenance person to join an established team on a private estate, located within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The position would suit a competent and driven professional with particular experience in paddock maintenance.

The large estate comprises three properties in addition to the main house, each of which encompass between 50 and 100 acres of paddocks which play host to approximately 100 – 120 horses in total.  Thirteen employees work on the estate, of whom two work in the gardens, three on the stud, and the rest with the horses.  The successful applicant will be part of the estate team though you will be expected to manage your own time and work autonomously.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintenance of the fields and paddocks (mowing, watering, harrowing and fertilising, spraying and associated treatments), watering of the wider estate grounds, management of hedges and trees, tractor driving, machinery maintenance and general labouring and estate maintenance when necessary.

Applicants must have excellent attention to detail and time management skills, good communication skills and experience in each of the above areas.  Candidates will ideally hold chainsaw competence certification and spray certificates.  Candidates should have demonstrable experience with boom sprayers, flail arms and other tractor-mounted equipment.  This position will be physically demanding at times so applicants should be physically fit and able to work efficiently in all weathers, whether manually or with the assistance of heavy machinery.

This is a full-time permanent position; five days per week (08:00 to 17:00) with 28-days holiday (including Bank Holidays).  The successful candidate will be subject to a three month probationary period and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
