About us

London’s eight Royal Parks are some of the best-loved and most beautiful spaces in the world managed by The Royal Parks. The parks are enjoyed by millions of Londoners and visitors to the city each year. The Parks provide 5,000 acres of urban parkland and unparalleled opportunities for enjoyment, exploration and healthy living in the capital.

About the role

Brompton Cemetery has recently undergone a £6.2m Heritage Lottery Fund and BIG Lottery funded restoration. The Royal Parks is now looking for an individual to join its team in a new and unique role to secure the long-term financial sustainability of the site.

The Royal Parks is looking to grow its funerary business and in addition it wishes to create a suite of new and innovative event opportunities to be delivered from the restored site. This role will lead the development of and manage both new and existing business activities.

The appointee will be the manager on site responsible for overseeing all day-to-day cemetery operations with the aim of continually improving standards. This is a crucial role in continuing to develop all forms of project legacy post the Heritage Lottery Fund and BIG Lottery investment.

About you

You will possess experience of managing heritage sites and understand the sensitivities of doing so. You must have a passion and enthusiasm to strive for the highest standards of management and operational practice. You will either possess knowledge and experience of the intricacies of cemetery management, or have the willingness to develop such knowledge in order to underpin the functions of the role.

Experience of developing and converting new business opportunities into reality is essential and you must possess the ability to create and sustain purposeful relationships with a wide group of cemetery stakeholders.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work as there is an expectation of work being required outside normal office hours. Residential accommodation is available at the South Lodge in the cemetery.
