Trees and Woodlands Officer                                                                       £30,756 to £33,136

36 hours per week

We are looking for a Trees & Woodlands Officer to help provide an excellent service for local people. The successful candidate will join the Parks & Countryside team based at Hamilton Buildings Birkenhead which is responsible for the maintenance of parks and open spaces and children's play areas.

The post holder will:

Develop, within the context of the Council's Corporate Objectives, the policy and strategic framework for all matters relating to trees across the Parks & Countryside estate.

Provide direction to appointed contractors carrying out arboricultural inspection and practical works throughout the Parks & Countryside estate, including contract meetings to determine work programmes, quality checks to determine whether specific works have been carried out by the contractors, quality checks and a selective audit of information regarding the proposed maintenance programme.

Develop the Parks & Countryside team's grant aid applications and appropriate income generation activity related to timber products, trees and woodlands, delivering an integrated approach to the development, design, maintenance and management of trees and wooded land under the section's control.

The successful candidate will be responsible for making decisions, policy changes and advice using their specialist/expert knowledge.

The post holder will monitor, administer, revise and update the tree management and associated contracts to ensure the smooth running of contracts and the delivery of a quality service, meeting safety requirements, including the preparation, monitoring and review of Key Performance Indicators and Continuous Improvement Plans.

This post is fixed term for 12 months with a possible extension of a further 6 months.
