JOB TITLE:      Gardener/Groundsperson (full time)

Our clients are seeking two committed and capable individuals to assist with the year round care and maintenance of over 8 acres of organic gardens and grounds of a Manor House just east of Box, Wiltshire.   The first role is considered suitable for a recently qualified, hands on gardener who is keen to help develop and maintain extensive gardens and grounds to an exacting standard. Good plant knowledge will be essential and an interest in biodynamic growing would be an advantage.   The second role would suit an experienced gardener who is willing to assist with all aspects of horticultural duties but with a particular focus on grounds maintenance. This is a physical role so a good level of fitness would be required.   Both candidates must have a positive attitude and be prepared to work to a high standard with a good eye for detail. They must also possess excellent communication skill and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following provides a brief summary of the duties involved in these positions, but it should not be regarded as an exhaustive list:

Qualified Gardener:

  • Maintaining a diverse mix of trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.
  • Performing seasonal tasks including; potting, propagating, watering, pruning, splitting and transplanting.
  • Assisting with the efficient running of two glass houses.
  • Maintaining the kitchen garden and growing a wide array of fruit and vegetables.
  • Assisting with the preparation and care of house plants and displays.

Groundsperson:

  • The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery, including repairs, daily pre-start checks and operator maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers’ specification.
  • Strimming, lawn mowing, edging and general lawn care using pedestrian and ride on machinery.
  • Carrying out regular hedge cutting/clipping to a diverse array of hedging species, including topiary work.
  • Performing seasonal landscape work including; leaf removal and general tidying.

A clean UK driving licence would be an advantage.

Both roles will be expected to provide some weekend cover on a rota basis to include greenhouse duties.
