Assistant Head Gardener - 38475

Our North London-based client is looking for an Assistant Head Gardener to join their existing team.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Essential:

• Previous professional gardening and maintenance experience, ideally gained in a large garden environment.
• Qualified to at least Level 2 or equivalent in horticulture.
• A passion for horticulture.
• Appropriate previous experience of supervising and motivating a team.
• Ability to work efficiently on an independent basis as well as within a wider team.
• Attention to detail, and to the personal needs and requirements of the Owner and guests.
• A confident and positive attitude and the ability to engage with a diverse range of colleagues and clients, including VIPs.
• Excellent organisational and prioritising skills, confidence in decision-making.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Health and Safety compliance.
• An ability to work to tight deadlines and within constraints.

Desirable:

• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Horticulture.
• PA1/PA6 spraying certificates.
• Experience of maintaining turf and knowledge of lawn best practice.
• Experience using ride-on mowers.
• Experience of maintaining machinery.
• Experience of water gardening and pond maintenance.
• Arboricultural experience and possession of relevant licences (CS30, CS31 etc).
• Experience of large equipment such as tractors, excavators and associated attachments.
• Garden design qualification and/or experience.
