Job Details

MorePeople are delighted to be working exclusively with a leading fresh produce firm as we help them find a Farm Manager to join their team in Tasmania.

For three generations, our client have been supplying consumers with fresh, healthy, vegetable-based products from sources across Australia such as freshcut salads, delicatessen salads and fresh cooked, ready to eat beetroot products. Today, they have operations all over Australia, with four state-of-the-art processing sites in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Bairnsdale (Victoria) operating 24/7. The farm in Tasmania is key in ensuring these sites stay in supply.

The farm in Tasmania is a relatively new baby leaf operation that spans 250 acres, 150 of which is intensive cropping. There are plans to expand the farm and in the past 18 months alone the farm has already doubled in size.

Based in Richmond, you will not be far from the island's capital, Hobart, meaning that you can make the best of both country and city life.

The Job:

As Farm Manager, you would play a key part in helping our client supply Australia's largest retailers, independent supermarkets and Green Grocers with the finest baby leaf in Australia.

You'll do this by:
Growing baby leaf crops and taking responsibility for the quality of the baby leaf produced.
Managing, motivating and developing your team so that they perform to the best of their ability.
Managing the P&L account and the farm budget.
Constantly driving continuous improvement and moving the farm forward.

The Person:

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, go-getting and hungry for experience. You will have worked in a similar position before, however, you do not necessarily have to have worked with baby leaf crops as you will be fully supported by the business as you are given the training and development you will need to succeed.

The ideal person will:

Be proactive, ambitious and passionate about growing.
Have a qualification in agriculture/horticulture or relevant subject and a sound understanding of Precision Ag systems.
Want to learn and be keen to progress.
Continuous improvement driven and can demonstrate this.
Be a strong manager who enjoys motivating and bringing out the best in others.
Have a detailed approach to your work.

This is a truly fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills, learn from the best and experience a whole new and exciting lifestyle.
