GROWTH, PLANNING AND HOUSING

Westminster is at the very heart of London and a crucial part of the World City. It contains instantly recognisable landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus as well as the capital’s internationally renowned shopping thoroughfares of Oxford, Regent and Bond Streets.

Our area comprises a rich mix of vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods including Chinatown, Soho, Mayfair, Covent Garden, St John’s Wood and Knightsbridge.  It is a place where trees are recognised as vital to London’s reputation as one of the world’s greenest cities, but also where there are constant pressures for commercial and residential development.  If you want to work for one of London’s leading organisations, and take on some of the challenges of managing trees in our diverse urban environment, we’d like to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our experienced team. You will take on responsibility for assessing development applications in relation to trees, and proposals to carry out works to preserved trees. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in other aspects of the section's work.

You will need at least a level 3 diploma qualification in arboriculture or equivalent, and proven experience, ideally in local government. You will be well-organised with good IT, communication and diplomacy skills. You should be able to set priorities and work to deadlines under pressure, and you should have a strong commitment to customer care, together with a sound knowledge of modern arboricultural practices.

If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens and an important role offering you the opportunity to transform lives.

As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen to work in an agile environment with flexible conditions.
